When you drive fast along the highway, you seldom notice ugly piles of garbage unconsciously littered over the guardrails by speeding motorists or their passengers.
You know, just because you only look ahead sitting at the wheel or sitting in the back seats, look out the window enjoying the passing sceneries far off.
It’s a hard fact.
It’s only we’re overlooking it like this garbage thing.

sitting at the wheel에서 wheel은 steering wheel, 즉 핸들이다.
그래서 sit at the wheel은 운전석에 앉다, 즉 운전하다.
hard는 soft의 반대어로 주로 “딱딱한, 어려운”의 뜻으로 쓰이는데 그 외에도 이처럼 “엄연한, 뚜렷한”의 뜻이 있다.
